Bears wrap up Regular Season with win over Otters

Muskoka Bears wrapped up the 2025-26 Regular Season with 2 weekend home games, Saturday and Family Day Monday at the Lumber Yard.

Saturday the Bears hosted No#1 Carruthers Division team Stayner Siskins, and Wil Muszynski, Jack Seney, and Ethan Boyes, but ultimately fell to a very strong Siskins squad 6-3.

The Family Day Holiday Monday seen the Bears host their Muskoka neighbours Huntsville Otters in a wrap up to the 25-26 season, at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre. A packed Lumber Yard seen 510 fans be entertained in a back and forth battle between the rivals. Otters opened the scoring, but just before the end of the period, speedster Liam Cardiff stole the puck and raced in alone to tie the game before the break at 1-1, with a shorthanded effort.

Only 1 goal was scored in the middle frame as Nicholas Cooper got a lucky bounce off an Otters defencemen, and put the Bears ahead 2-1, heading to what would be, a very back and forth entertaining 3rd Period. Tyler Lasitz buried his 17th goal of the year, again with a shorthanded goal, only to see the Otters get back within one on Gavin Williams 15th, to make it 3-2 Bears.

Wil Muszynski then on an outstanding solo effort beat the Otters defenseman the long way around, and sniped a top corner shot on a surprised Otters goalie, with Sam Litt, and Lasitz getting the assists. Never say die Huntsville, always play hard for Head Coach Jason Farnsworth, and crawled back again to come within one on a goal by Sebastien Gagnon 4-3. With 5 minutes left, Sam Litt was looking to finally bury his former team and sew up the win, and he broke through the defence, and ripped a shot glove side to give the Muskoka Bears a 5-3 lead with little time left on the clock. Huntsville pressed to come within one, but could not get any closer and Muszynski then buried an empty netter for the 6-3 lead, and final.

Muskoka Bears finish 6th in the Division, and now face the 3rd place Orillia Terriers.
