Bears drop home opener 3-2

Muskoka Bears Jr C Hockey Team, coming off a great showing hosting their 1st Annual Danny Poland Memorial Pre-Season Tournament, where they won their 1st two games before bowing out to Lakefield in Final. The Bears got wins over Schomberg, and the highly ranked Mt Forest Patriots, in front of a well attended day at the Muskoka Lumber Community Centre.

The Bears hosted their rivals from the North the Huntsville Otters, after losing their 1st road game of the season in Alliston 5-0. Huntsville tallied 1st before speedy winger Kevin Demeules evened the score at 1 with assists from Liam Cardiff and Jakob Medeiros. Huntsville then banged in a couple of quick ones, to take a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd frame. Mactier’s own Dylan Hendrick, then ripped one by Otters tendy Darien Willis, with helpers from Liam Cardiff and Demeules,  to bring the Bears within one. Outshooting the Otters 25-3 in the 3rd period, the relentless pressure was withstood by Huntsville and they held on for a 3-2 win.

No rest for the wicked, as the Bears head north for the back end of a home and home with Huntsville on Friday Sept 19th at 7:30. Bears Nation lets show why we are one of the best travelling teams in the Carruthers Division, and cheer on the Bears to a victory.
