Bears 1st Reg Season win on Weekend

 

The Muskoka Bears made history last night in Penetang, clinching their first-ever franchise win in a hard-fought 5-4 battle against the Penetang Kings. It was the 1st Jr C Hockey game won by Bears franchise in 41 years, since original frnachise folded in 1983. It was a packed Penetang arena on Friday, with huge support from Bears fans, that seen a back and forth affair the whole game. Opening period seen Kaiden Szabo connect with a nice feed to Jacob Jennings, who potted his first goal of campaign, and period one ended tied at 1.

Second period was a bit of firewagon hockey with multiple goals and power plays, and again teams were even up after middle frame, as Parker MacAdams, and team leading scorer Tyson Jennings with his 5th goal of the year, to leave it at a 3-3 tie, after 2. Third period seen Tyson Tarvydas give the Bears the lead, only to see the Kings tie at soon after.

With only 3:54 left in the game, Mason Burnett with his second point of the game, banged home a loose puck in goalmouth scramble to give the Bears the lead, and a huge game saving stop by Bears goalie Connor Sampson in the last few seconds,  gave the Bears their first win of the season.
