In the first Junior C Hockey game in Bracebridge in over 40 years, the Muskoka Bears thrilled a packed house of 637 fans, when they skated to a back and forth contest, with the Bears scoring with just 3 minutes left in 3rd period, to defeat a seasoned Penetang Kings squad 4-3.
Fans were just settling into their seats when Tyson Jennings banged home a rebound 23 seconds into the game. Penetang then scored two straight goals before the Bears took the lead with two of their own, by Ryan Warwick and Aiden McDonald, to go up 3-2 going into the third. Penetang, not going away quietly, tied it at 3, early 3 minutes into third before. That set the stage for some heroics by Brayden Kelly, rushing into Penetang end, and banging home a rebound from a Parker McAdams shot, at 3:55 mark of the third.
An awesome result, and a great home and Arena opener for Jr Hockey fans in Bracebridge.
Bears are hitting the ice again in their next home game Sunday Sept 8th, vs North Kawartha Knight s at 4pm.
